Badger Visitor Part 2 - Video

As the stills from the trail camera were time stamped I had a look at my 'security' camera recordings for the same period. Bingo:

  1. This is great. It looks to be at home in your garden.

    1. Adrian: Not too sure about that. I got the feeling it was rushing about trying to find the way out. The only gap big enough I know about is in a far back corner of the garden.

    1. Simon: It seemed to cover most of the garden.

  3. Fantastic! You live in a wonderful "storybook" place where anything magical might happen!!! I thought that badgers only lived in places like the world of "Wind in the willows"!!
Seriously, books like that have been my only knowledge of badgers until now so I shall wait for the next sighting of this creature in your garden. btw what did your dog make of it when she smelt it in her territory the next day?

    1. Mick: Ha ha. Over the past months I've had Toad, Ratty and now Badger. I just hope one isn't about when Penny goes out at night. They can be vicious fighters when cornered. It may have strayed in the garden out of curiosity but I will keep monitoring. Badgers can be common in rural areas and are being seen more and more in urban gardens. Penny follows the scent trail of everything which comes in the garden.

    1. RR: It was really pleasant surprise. Yes, I wouldn't have known without the trial camera which I have now moved to what I hope is a better location.

    1. Wilma: I think it explored just about every part of the garden.

  6. Interesting footage! I bet you were thrilled to see your visitor checking out your whole garden, while, as you say, probably trying to find a way out. What did you decide about peanuts? Personally, I don't think it is a good idea to encourage late night visitors; you might get more than you bargained for ;)

    1. Glo: Still thinking about the peanuts. For the smaller, unwelcome, furry visitors there is always plenty of special food for them under the shed. I've checked back through a couple of weeks night activity but no other Badger visits detected. It may have been a one off which was fortunately detected.

    2. Great detective work figuring out where to check your security cam, and 'Bingo' ~ a perfect Badger name. Bingo the Badger- I like it!

    3. Glo: Fortunately the recorder responds to any movement in the picture. The only problem lately is lots of recordings of rain! Bingo makes a change from Brock ;)

Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any comment, or correction to any information or identification I get wrong, is most welcome. John
